Philosophy: Our philosophy is to teach young players to develop good volleyball technique that will build a solid foundation for their volleyball future and teach in a fun and positive atmosphere. Our goal is to help them become better volleyball players so if they desire, they may advance to the next level: grade school to high school to college.

Many of our teams have competed with the top teams in the area. Majority of players go on to play for their high school varsity teams. Some of our players have gone on to play at various collegiate levels.

We charge $400 per year plus uniform fees. These fees cover gym time for practice, equipment, USA registration fees, tourney fees, speed and agility training and coach’s rooms and food when traveling. St. Louis CYC Volleyball Club - 10 & Under Program
As a developmental program, proper techniques are emphasized and advanced strategies are introduced. In addition, a low player-to-coach ratio ensures a high degree of individual player attention. This program, now in its fifteenth year, has been well received and very popular. Participants wishing to tryout for the 10 & under program need not have previous volleyball experience. Info about our 10-U program can be found on our web site.
Budget and Expenses Information (excludes 10-U program):
- An initial payment of $350 per player (11U-18U) is due at the Club Registration Meeting (held within one week of tryouts). This money will be used for player, coach and chaperone USAV registrations and background screens, tournament entry fees, gym rental, coaches' reimbursements, administrative fees (website maintenance, postage, office supplies), and equipment fees (balls, carts, first aid kits, etc.).
- Uniforms must be purchased separately and include jerseys and/or t-shirts, shorts, and a warm-up suit (approximate cost for new player $161-$184, depending on age group).
- Itemized invoices will be issued based on the expected/scheduled team activity for the season. A mandatory team parent meeting will be held to choose the amount and type of travel tournaments. The estimated total cost (including travel tournament entry fees and coaches’ travel expenses) will be divided into four equal payments with the first payment due on Jan. 15, 2012.Total seasonal expenses per player can range from $500-$2500, depending on the frequency of practices, amount and types of tournaments entered, number of travel tournaments, and participation in optional fundraisers. Each player's account must be paid in full before the 2012 Gateway Region Championships. Travel, food, and lodging for the player and her family are NOT included in the totals above.
- Individual player’s money is NOT used to support or supplement other teams within the Club. Teams are self-sufficient. Teams/individuals may voluntarily participate in fundraising activities that can substantially reduce the player’s total expenses for the season.
- Any money remaining in a player's account at the end of the season will be refunded to that player.

Level of Competition:
Competitive. We have added three teams and hired 14 new coaches for this season. We choose to field only one team at each age level, preferring to be a small, select, and elite Club. The Club attracts players and coaches from throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area. Historically, approximately 90% of our players make a high school volleyball team at such schools as Oakville High School, Ursuline Academy, Lindbergh High School, and Lutheran South High School. The Club competes in Gateway Region and USA Volleyball Gold/Silver events only. Our teams play among the most difficult schedules in the Region. They are required to play in Gateway Region and USAV-sponsored events such as Seeding Tournaments, the Gateway Girl’s Festival, and the Gold/Silver Regional Championships. We expect teams age 14 and up to play in the St. Louis Power League, the premier invitational league in the Region. Following the Regional Championships, we expect all teams age 12 and up to play in either the USA Volleyball Junior National Championships (Nationals), the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s Junior Volleyball Association/Amateur Athletic Union Championships (JVA/AAU), or the Asics National Championships. We require these because we believe that players improve their skills by playing against better competition. We do not accept waivered players. We request that players confirm that they are eligible to play for a particular team before coming to a tryout. The 2011-12 birthday eligibility information may be found on the “Tryouts” link of our website, www.stlpowerhitters.com. In addition to competing with both passion and pride at the highest levels, we expect players, parents, and coaches to exhibit a comparable level of sportsmanship. We require players and parents to sign and abide by a Code of Conduct, and for coaches to follow a Code of Ethics. All coaches are IMPACT certified at a minimum, and all are Region-certified instructors for both scorekeeping and officiating.
Awards and Honors Achieved by Club:
The 2010-11 16’s and 14’s won the Silver Division Championships at Regionals last year, and the 15’s took second place in the Silver. The 14’s and 16’s also played in the St. Louis Power League. The 13’s finished 5th in the Gold Division at the Asics National Championships in Chicago. A complete listing of awards and honors may be found at our “Achievements” link on our website, www.stlpowerhitters.com.
Locations Used for Practice:
The Club has historically utilized public and private facilities in the Rockwood, Lindbergh, Mehlville/Oakville, Fox/Seckman, and Webster Groves School Districts for tryouts, practices, and clinics. The Club is one of only three clubs in the Region sponsoring a series of clinics in September and October for players 14 and under designed to prepare them for tryouts; check the “Clinics/Open Gyms” link on our website homepage for additional information. Team practices begin on or about December 1 of each year. All information regarding tryouts, practices, clinics, and tournaments may be found on the “Facilities” and “Calendar” links on our website, www.stlpowerhitters.com.
Budget and Expense Information:
The St. Louis Powerhitters Volleyball Club’s tax-exempt status for Missouri sales taxes allows us to purchase uniforms, equipment, supplies and clothing at lower costs, thereby saving players and parents money. In keeping with that status, we keep fees reasonable, while providing our players and coaches with quality equipment and facilities. The Club fee for the 2011-12 season is $900.00. The fee is all-inclusive. Unlike many clubs, the fee includes coaches’ expenses for out-of-town tournaments; we do not charge players extra for the coaches’ travel, lodging, or tournament entry fees, gym rentals, or other costs. The Club has a travel policy that defines what expenses the Club will pay for and those it will not; the policy also places limits on housing, food, transportation, and incidental expenses. In addition, we do not require players or parents to engage in fundraising events to offset expenses, or require that they donate goods or services. We believe that these policies represent a considerable value to players and parents. Travel, food, lodging, and miscellaneous expenses for players and family members are not included in the Club fee. Club fees are used for player, coach, chaperone, and team official’s USAV and Gateway Region registrations and background screens; plyometric training through PlyoCity, coaching education and stipends; travel expenses; tournament entry fees; gym rentals; equipment (volleyballs, volleyball carts, first aid kits, etc.); and administrative expenses (website maintenance, postage, office supplies, etc.). Additional information may be found at the “FAQ” and “Fees & Uniforms” links on our website, www.stlpowerhitters.com.
Uniforms:
Asics uniforms are purchased separately. Uniforms consist of two jerseys (white and maroon), black shorts, and white crew socks. All players provide their own white kneepads and primarily white/gray volleyball shoes. Uniform costs range from $70-$109 per player depending upon the item, style, and quantity ordered. Powerhitters logo clothing and equipment, such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, and gym bags, may also be purchased. Additional information regarding uniforms may be found on the “Fees & Uniforms” link of our website, and clothing information on the “Clothing” link at www.stlpowerhitters.com. Order forms for both may found at the “Documents” link to our website.

Club Philosophy:
Team Momentum is dedicated to providing its athletes with the technical, tactical and physical training to reach their highest possible potential. Proper skill development is critical for long term success in club and school volleyball. The club emphasizes individual performance as well as team success.
For players interested in playing in college, Momentum believes that skilled players have the best chance of being recruited. We strive to help each and every player regardless of age or ability to achieve her maximum performance.
Master coaches attend most practices, speed and agility training and additional skills training give our players an edge. Proper skills and techniques are taught and reinforced.
We also recognize that players and their families need balance and reasonable schedules to not limit individual opportunities to excel at more than volleyball. The club works hard to keep costs affordable while providing quality coaches, facilities and equipment. Fundraising opportunities are available throughout the season.
Practices are conducted at convenient gyms (St. Louis Priory, Barat/Gateway Academy and Westminster Christian Academy), speed and agility training is during regular practice times and locations. Teams attempt to work around major holidays and school breaks.
