Gateway Region saw continuing growth among our U10 participants thru the 2020-2023 seasons, with a record 20 teams that registered as full junior members that played a true club season.  Numbers of U10 participants in  1/week training programs also increased.  For this reason, in 2022, the region felt our youth population had grown enough to offer the U10 age division the opportunity to join all the older age divisions (U11-U18) in competing for a Regional Championship.  Like all the older ages, U10 teams will divide into 2 divisions.

The Competitive Division will compete both days, and is specifically for U10 teams that registered with full USAV junior memberships ($55), and have played in other U10 or U11 sanctioned events.  Day 1 is opening 3-match minimum pool play.  Day 2 are 2-match minimum Gold and Silver Brackets.

The Program Division will only compete Saturday, and is limited to only those players who have purchased a  USAV youth membership ($20), and are only participating in various 1/week training programs offered by clubs or other VB affiliates.

Online Payment option is available through AES online registration.  Teams may Choose to forgo online payment, and pay by check - teams that select this option must print the receipt of their online registration form, and send that form with their entry fee to our office.

Program Division Playing Rules and Protocols

The Program division is a single day Event on Saturday.  All teams will play a format that gives each team 4 "matches" in either a morning wave from roughly 8:30-12pm, or an afternoon wave from roughly 12-3:30pm. Times are estimates, and may vary by up to half an hour.  Matches consist of a single set to 25 points.  Although scores are recorded, there is no final finish or playoffs.  An up-official will be provided.  Officiating work teams (line judges, score flippers) may or may not be necessary depending on pool size or schedule.

Warm-Ups - 2 minutes shared court while captains do coin flip. Serving team gets 2 minutes; Receiving team gets 2 minutes; 1 minute shared serving.

Warm-ups begin immediately after previous match concludes

Officiating Crew, if assigned, will consist of a down-ref (no whistle required), 2 lines persons, and a score flipper.

There is a 10' Step-in Service Line.

Free Substitutions.

Teams may play with less than 6.

Players may re-serve only if they miss their very 1st service attempt.  If they make their 1st serve, but miss their 2nd serve, then the other team sides out.

A player may serve a Maximum of 3 serves.  Then there is an automatic side out whether the serving team wins or loses the 3rd service point.
