Gateway Region Volleyball
Gateway Region Volleyball Association is one of 40 Regional Governing Bodies in the US for our Sport of Volleyball. We work with USA Volleyball in implementing VB programming in our geographic area, which is comprised of the southern half of IL and the eastern half of MO. Membership with USAV provides insurance, as well as organized competitive playing opportunities for juniors and adults not only within our region, but nationwide.

The Gateway Region Announces Participation In the 2026 USA All-Star Championships
The Gateway Region will be fielding teams in the Boys U19 and Boys U17 Divisions at the 2026 USA All-Star Championships in Columbus Ohio July 23-27. The plan is to expand the number of teams for the 2027 USA All-Star Championships in Phoenix Arizona.
General Information
- Expose athletes to high-level college (NCAA and NAIA) recruiters who attend the international tournament.
- Offer a college-like sports experience where athletes learn what it is like to be treated like an elite-level athlete.
- Be a part of independent travel experience led by highly certified Gateway Region staff and college coaches
- Gain exposure to elite level coaching provided by some of the Midwest’s top college coaches.
- Compete and train alongside other all-star caliber athletes from around the Gateway Region.
- Play against other all-star teams from around the country and the world
Age Definitions
- Boys U19 — (Born in 2007, 2008 and 2009)
- Boys U17 — (Born in 2010 and 2011)
- Athletes who graduated high school in 2025 or earlier are not eligible for the Gateway Region All-Star program
Tryouts
- Friday, February 6 from 6-8pm at the St. Louis Convention Center
Competition Dates
- July 23-27 in Columbus Ohio
Tryout registration and more detailed information will be made available on the region website starting on January 20, 2026.
Rule Changes
Several major changes for the 2026 season.
Doubles - Allow multiple contacts on a team's second hit if the ball is next contacted by a teammate
Libero - Zero, one , or two libero's can be designated each set
Substitutions - Raised from 12 to 15
Screening - Modify language of screening rule to prohibit players from raising their hands above their head during the service until the ball has passed over their head
