Boys Tryouts for the Gateway Region may begin after 5pm Friday September 5, 2025.
Tryouts may start at 5pm on Friday. Commitment time is 7pm on Sunday of the Initial tryout weekend. Tryouts held after the initial tryout weekend may ask for a commitment at the time of the tryout.
Please form your teams within appropriate age and grade levels. Grade based waivers will be allowed for players who don't meet the age cutoff but are in the grade associate with that division (i.e. a 15 year old who is a Freshman). Realize they would still be a waivered team and may not participate in any national qualifying divisions at National Bid/Qualifier events (exception U12, U13, U14). Be prepared to produce documentation (birth certificate and most recent school report card) to register a waivered player on a team roster.
Please be aware that once you have committed to play for a team, you are committed to that team for the season and you may not transfer to another team unless that teams season is completed and that is confirmed by existing Club.
Any tryouts taking place prior to the start dates above are not sanctioned by the Gateway Region of USA Volleyball and are not for USAV teams.
The tryout listing below is updated periodically, as tryout sanctions are turned into Region Staff. Tryout edits and changes may only be made once - changes are noted in red. Tryout Sanction Forms should be emailed to Linus at shyu.gatewayvb@gmail.com
Dear Staff and Membership :
“Safety and security don’t just happen; they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear.” Nelson Mandela
As we enter the 2024/2025 season we wanted to provide some reminders regarding SafeSport training. The SafeSport training requirement became an annual training requirement beginning in 2018/2019 season. What is SafeSport ? It is the Olympic community's initiative to recognize, reduce and respond to misconduct in sport. The six primary types of misconduct are Bullying, Harassment, Hazing, Emotional misconduct, Physical Misconduct, and Sexual Misconduct (including child sex abuse). SafeSport Core is the first required course in the ongoing training curriculum. There will be refresher courses to follow each additional year with every 4th year the Core course will need to be retaken. In the SportsEngine Member Management System the course is easily accessible by clicking on the link on the eligibility requirements you receive when an applicable membership with the requirement is purchased. It can also be accessed by logging into your SportsEngine account at sportsengine.com and selecting Memberships on the left side menu, then the applicable membership.
