COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (June 26, 2019) – Does the U.S. Men’s National Team’s roster for its FIVB Volleyball Nations League matches in Bulgaria on June 28-30 give a glimpse of the future?

The U.S. Men (7-5) are set to play Bulgaria (10:40 a.m. PT on June 28 - live on FloVolleyball.tv), Serbia (7 a.m. PT on June 29 – live on the Olympic Channel) and Iran (7 a.m. PT on June 30 – live on FloVolleyball.tv) in Plovdiv. It is the final weekend of VNL preliminary play.

Olympians Matt Anderson, Max Holt, Micah Christenson, Taylor Sander, Aaron Russell, David Smith, Kawika Shoji and Erik Shoji will be in Southern California this weekend getting ready for the VNL Finals on July 10-14 at Credit Union 1 Arena in Chicago.

The lone Olympian on the roster for Bulgaria is outside hitter Thomas Jaeschke, who made his 2019 U.S. Men’s VNL debut last weekend in Hoffman Estates, Ill., after spending a year rehabbing from a torn ACL.

“We’re excited,” said U.S. Men’s Assistant Coach Rob Neilson who will be the team’s head coach in Bulgaria. “It’s a chance for us to get better and to learn and compete. It’s a chance for the young guys to get after it.”

Speaking of “young guys,” two players on the roster aren’t even on the preliminary roster of 25 for the U.S. Men. Middle blockers Price Jarman and George Huhmann were added thanks to injury exemptions. Both players competed for the Pan American Cup team that finished fifth in Colima, Mexico on June 22.
